And it could not have happened too soon.  Just in time for the ‘09-‘10 NFL season and the Cowboys are off to a great start.  For my Yahoo FF team’s sake I hope that Barber gets the lions share of carries and TD’s this year!

(Arlington) - The Dallas Cowboys’ new $1.15 billion stadium has local retailers developing strategies to take advantage of the influx of potential customers that comes with the start of football season.

Some numbers have been tracked and indicate what city officials hope will become a positive return on investment.

The stadium effect, by the numbers:

•Arlington’s sales tax increase for May - 2.2 percent;
•17 additional flights to the municipal airport for the George Strait concert;
•60 businesses that have applied for “entrepreneurial permits;“
•4,000 hotel rooms sold for George Strait concert;
•80,000 capacity of Cowboys Stadium in Arlington;
•$325 million - Arlington’s share of the stadium construction costs,
Local sales and use tax collections in Arlington are faring better than nearby cities:

•Arlington (May 2008) $5.87 million; (May 2009) $6 million; (change) 2.2 percent.
